Megan Dowsett is a creative consultant working in museums, galleries and the arts, an illustrator who is finding her voice through personal and local projects, and a parent to two young beings who can't help but influence her creative journey.

Through the name Norris and the Flamingo, she shares the sense of adventure that runs through all of life, wherever we are on our journey. A sense of imagination, of possibility and discovery, for children and adults alike.

07 Purple As an illustrator, Megan takes inspiration from the personal stories of the people around her. She has found a natural audience in her children, and makes pictures and books which explore creative ways to connect with their favourite themes as they grow and develop. Coupled with the inevitable desire to celebrate life’s most significant times and places, from births and weddings to the local park, she finds herself with a collection of work that’s deeply personal and anchored in love, friendship, childhood and family.

Megan works in collage and mixed media and, having embraced traditional crafts throughout her life, she binds her own books, experimenting with different techniques that reflect the personality and audience of each project.

Between work and childcare, Megan has found a way to carve out precious time each week for illustration, allowing her to complete a small number of projects each year. If you would like to discuss Megan’s work and the possibility of a collaboration or commission, please feel free to contact her.
